Data Sharing Policy
The MRC’s overarching policy aim for data sharing is to maximise the life time value of research data assets for human health and to do so in a way that is timely, responsible, with as few restrictions as possible, and consistent with the law, regulations and recognised good practice.
MRC Harwell Institute research projects generate rich and diverse data outputs. Those funded by public money are shared openly such that we maximise any further research opportunities from them.

Material Transfer Agreements
It may be necessary to execute a MTA with the owner of a mouse resource in order to allow its release from the MRC Harwell Institute or its transfer to another research establishment. Or should you be depositing a mouse to the MRC Harwell Institute then an MTA is executed to allow us to protect your IP rights whilst we distribute the line on your behalf.
MTAs are executed either electronically through the MRC Harwell Institutes MTA portal or in paper format.

All user accounts are accessible to MRC Harwell Institute web database administrators. However passwords are encrypted and cannot be retrieved.
All external providers are in full compliance with GDPR regulations. We only utilise cloud services which store data within EU data centres, and where security levels are deemed necessary, we restrict this further to UK based data centres.
Data held in these accounts is used for the sole purpose it was collect for and is not disclosed to any third party.
